SOT The Coffeyville Police Department's Special Operations
Team (SOT) is made up of eight officers who have collateral
duties within the Department and are on call for SOT
activation. These officers have received specialized
training in tactics and weapons to deal with
high-risk/critical incidents and provide the Department with
a vital and safety-enhancing option to address these special
circumstances. The SOT utilizes special weapons and tactics to increase the probability of peaceful resolutions to high-risk/critical situations, thereby increasing the safety of innocent civilians, victims/hostages, officers and suspects. The SOT is utilized in any circumstance that is not considered within the realm of "normal" patrol functions, such as: high risk warrants, hostage situations and barricaded individuals. Training for area businesses and the school system is also conducted by the Special Operations Team. Click on the pictures below for a better view:
