Coffeyville Municipal Light & Power (CMLP) has been providing electricity for customers in a 67 square mile area since 1901. CMLP maintains 6 substations, 200 miles of distribution lines and 16 miles of transmission lines. During 2012, Coffeyville tracked 150 outages with 28% of those due to overhead equipment failure; 19% to weather; 16% to birds, animals and snakes; 9% to trees and the rest to other causes such as underground failure, unknown causes, and or human interference.
This resulted in an average system availability index of 99.9969% which means power was flowing to consumers for all but 16 minutes of the past year.
