The Coffeyville Police Department is committed to providing high quality and professional service. All citizen comments, complaints, concerns, and commendations are import to this organization. We will investigate all complaints, address all concerns, and recognize all officer commendations.

Citizen Complaints
If you have any concerns, complaints, or recommendations on how we can improve, please call the Coffeyville Police Department at 620-252-6122, Email, or complete a complaint form available at the Coffeyville Police Department. A complaint can be made by letter, telephone, fax, e-mail, or in person. Every effort will be made to facilitate the making of a complaint by ensuring the process is convenient, courteous, and prompt.

All complaints received shall be promptly referred to an on-duty supervisor. The complainant will be advised of the outcome of the investigation.

Racial Profiling Complaints
The Coffeyville Police Department does not tolerate unlawful discrimination. It shall be unlawful for any police officer or staff member of the Coffeyville Police Department to engage in racial profiling or biased based policing. The Coffeyville Police Department and its members will comply with K.S.A. 22-4610.

The race, ethnicity, national origin, gender or religion of an individual or group shall not be the sole factor in determining the existence of probable cause to take into custody or to arrest an individual or in constituting a reasonable and articulable suspicion that an offense has been or is being committed so as to justify the detention of an individual or the investigatory stop of a vehicle.

Any person who believes they, or another person has been subjected to racial profiling/biased based policing by a law enforcement officer or staff member of the Coffeyville Police Department may file a complaint with the Coffeyville Police Department. A person may also file a complaint with the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.

If the investigation of a complaint of racial profiling/biased based policing reveals the officer or staff member was in direct violation of the Coffeyville Police Department’s written directives regarding racial profiling/biased based policing, the Department shall take appropriate action consistent with applicable laws, written directives, resolutions, ordinances, policies, and employment practices.
