Applications are being accepted for funding from the City of Coffeyville special alcohol and drug fund. The State of Kansas has created an alcoholic liquor fund from taxes paid on the purchase of alcohol with the use of these funds set out in state statute.
For cities with a population more than 6,000 Kansas law states that one third of the funds goes to the general fund, one third goes to parks and recreation and one third goes to a special alcohol and drug program fund. For 2019, there is approximately $27,000 available in the special program fund.
These special program funds are to be used specifically for services or programs for alcoholism and drug abuse prevention and education, intervention or treatment and recovery. Applications are due Friday, July 19.
