Coffeyville Fire Department received a $1,650 grant for technical rescue equipment. The grant is provided through Frontier Farm Credit’s Working Here Fund.
The Coffeyville Fire Department used the Working Here Fund grant to purchase a Yates Spec-pak patient harness. The harness will be used during rescues to help safely move injured patients, providing spinal injury protection as the patient is moved both horizontally and vertically. The harness will be used in conjunction with their grain bin rescue equipment and during other rescues requiring patient movement in a confined space.
“This patient harness is quick to package a patient and is also compact, allowing the rescuer to be able to take it with them in tight spaces and then move the victim quicker,” said Mike O’Connor, Lieutenant.
The new harness will begin usage this summer, following a training session for all firefighters to educate everyone on the uses of the harness.
“Through our Working Here Fund, Frontier Farm Credit supports organizations that are enhancing their communities,” said Jeremy Fritz, regional vice president of retail operations at Frontier’s Parsons office.
