Yes, an operable vehicle may be parked in the back yard. An untagged, inoperable vehicle can only be in the back yard provided it is behind a fence which obstructs and prevents the view of the vehicle.

5. Can I park in my yard?

Yes, you can park in your yard provided the area used for parking is improved with at least 4" of paver brick, asphalt, concrete or gravel.

6. I sold my property on contract or I no longer own this property so why do I keep getting notices from the City about the grass and charges for mowing?

The City Code Enforcement office obtains all their property owner information from the Montgomery County tax rolls. Therefore, if you have not removed your name as owner from the property you will still receive any and all notices from the Code Enforcement office. You should contact the County offices to see what steps you need to take to rectify this.

7. What is a nuisance assessment on my tax bill?

If the property owner fails to mow a property, clean up a court ordered trash nuisance or repair or demolish a court ordered slum and blight citation, the City of Coffeyville will contract to have this done. The cost, plus a fee, will be billed to the property owner. If this is unpaid, it will be assessed against the property. The County will include this as a nuisance assessment on the property tax statement.
