1. How do I report a power outage or water leak?

Power Outage - Call 620-252-6180
Information required - Name, phone number and address of the outage. Rural customers need to provide their pole number.

Information required - name, phone number and address or location of the leak.

2. When is my utility bill due?

There are three billing cycles:

• Bills with account numbers beginning with 4-19 are due on the 5th of each month
  
• Bills with account numbers beginning with 20-37 are due on the 15th of each month
  
• Bills with account numbers beginning with 38-68 are due on the 25th of each month

3. What is the PCA?

PCA stands for power cost adjustment. A PCA is an adjustment made on your electric bill which either goes up or down each month. The PCA is dependent upon what the true cost of power is when bought from the Grand River Dam Authority or produced at our power plant.

4. Why is a power cost adjustment (PCA) necessary?

As energy costs fluctuate, the PCA is a way to reflect changes in the cost of power without completely restructuring the City’s existing rate schedules. The concept is that as the cost of purchasing electricity changes, the retail charge for electricity should change accordingly.

One way to think about PCA is to compare it to the cost of gasoline for your car. Even though your monthly car payment hasn’t gone up, the car you drive is costing more to operate now because just as electricity prices have risen, so have gasoline prices at the pump (the PCA). The PCA is a pass-through charge that is unknown from one month to another just as gasoline prices are unknown from month to month.

5. My house is vacant; however, I am keeping the utilities on. Can I have the trash discontinued?

Yes, you may fill out a form to exempt the property from trash service at the Customer Service Office.

6. Do seniors get a special rate for trash service?

Yes, if the head of household is 62 or older and the dwelling is not occupied by anyone other than a spouse or temporary guests, you will qualify for the senior trash rate of $12.25.
